MOROCCO SEARCH AND RESCUE

By Paul Ndiho

Search and rescue operations have continued for over a week since a 6.8-magnitude quaon devastated parts of central Morocco; many worry that the dire living conditions and poor hygiene create new threats for the survivors. The disaster killed nearly 3,000 people and injured thousands more. For a first-hand account of what’s happening on the ground, VOA’s Paul Ndiho, via Skype, spoke to Emmanuel Victoire Ngapela, a freelance Journalist. None of the houses there remained intact in the earthquake-hit Moroccan village of Imi N’tala. Everything was razed to the ground.
