FRANCE TO WITHDRAWING AMBASSADOR AND TROOPS FROM NIGER

Residents in Niger’s capital reacted to President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to withdraw the French Ambassador and troops from the West African country due to the coup that removed the democratically elected president. The expulsion of the French ambassador from Niger highlights the growing anti-French sentiment in former French colonies. From Niger’s perspective, this expulsion is necessary to assert their independence and sovereignty. However, France views it as hostile, potentially damaging bilateral relations.
