By Paul Ndiho

Earlier this month, the CENI election commission, the body responsible for organizing elections in the DRC, announced that twenty-four candidates, including the incumbent Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi, have officially submitted their applications for the upcoming presidential election in December. The pool of candidates is diverse, comprising old rivals, first-time contenders, and previously marginalized presidential hopefuls raising concerns that the opposition vote may be divided, consequently boosting Tshisekedi’s chances of securing a second term. For more perspective, VOA Correspondent Paul Ndiho spoke to Dennis Matanda, Adj—Professor of American Politics and International Business at Catholic University, Washington DC.
