REGULATING AI FOR HEALTH
By Paul Ndiho
The Global Initiative on AI for Health, along with other stakeholders, is looking at regulating artificial intelligence (AI) for Health. The Initiative emphasizes the importance of establishing AI systems’ safety and effectiveness and fostering dialogue among stakeholders, including developers, regulators, manufacturers, health workers, and patients. Analysts say AI plays a significant role in diagnosis, clinical care, drug and development, and disease surveillance and could be beneficial in settings lacking medical specialists in interpreting retinal scans and radiology images. For more, we are joined by Darlington Alogo, founder and CEO of Mino Health AI Labs in Ghana – currently attending the Global Initiative on AI in Riyad, Saudi Arabia.
