TWO SUDANESE CHARGED FOR HACKING U S GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

Two Sudanese citizens are facing charges for running a guerrilla computer hacking group called Anonymous Sudan. The group aimed to “declare cyberwar on the United States” by targeting the FBI, government agencies in Alabama, Microsoft, and X through a series of attacks, according to the Justice Department. The group carried out more than 35,000 attacks, with 70 of them targeting the Los Angeles metro area. These actions resulted in more than $10 million in damages in the U.S., as reported last week by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.

Ahmed Salah Yousif Omer and Alaa Salah Yusuuf Omer have been charged with conspiracy and computer damage for their coordinated cyberattacks from 2023 to the present year.
