Mobile money companies in Africa are playing an important role in accelerating the use of digital financial services. Telecommunications operators have become major financial players with their “mobile money” networks providing essential banking services to tens of millions over cell phones.
A United Nations agency, Better Than Cash Alliance, works with governments, businesses, and international organizations to accelerate cash to digital payments.
