IMF AND WORLD BANK MEETINGS IN MARRAKESH
By Paul Ndiho
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank are holding annual meetings in Marrakech, Morocco, Africa, for the first time in 50 years as they face a growing chorus of criticism that poorer nations are underrepresented at the two institutions. Both institutions have recently said they plan to give Africa additional seats on their executive boards. These annual meetings bring together policymakers, academics, civil society, and economic experts to tackle world economic and development issues. For more perspective, Paul Ndiho, via Skype, spoke to Ghazi Ben Ahmed, an Economist and Founder of Mediterranean Development Initiative, a Tunis-based think tank.
