THE PASSAGE OF THE ANTI LGBTQ BILL IN GHANA

Ghana’s parliament passed the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill—now widely recognized as one of the most restrictive anti-LGBTQ+ pieces of legislation on the continent. The law moves beyond penalizing private acts, shifting its focus toward a total ban on LGBTQ+ advocacy, media representation, and international funding. With President John Mahama stalling his signature and domestic sponsors furiously clashing over “watered-down” amendments, the entire future of the legislation hangs by a thread. Tonight on #DifferentPerspectives, Paul Ndiho hosts an explosive live panel. We are joined by open trans superstar Angel Maxine, live from Berlin; cultural icon Sister Deborah; Madina MP Chief of Staff Bright Makafui; reproductive health advocate Mark Boldkid; and civic educator Justice Akpadie.
