Despite being a widely accessed and essential source of knowledge, Wikipedia needs more content in African languages. For instance, some significant languages commonly spoken in Africa have fewer articles, unlike the top-ranked English Wikipedia, which has millions of pieces. To address this discrepancy, a movement led by young Wiki’s or techies in Ghana aims to empower individuals to contribute to Wikipedia in their native languages, allowing volunteers to create and edit numerous Wikipedia articles in African languages. Earlier, I caught up with Joris Darlington Quarshie, a Wikipedia team lead, who was on a jog on one of the hottest days in Accra, Ghana.
