KENYA TO LEAD MULTINATIONAL FORCE IN HAITI

The Security Council adopted a resolution authorizing Member States to form and deploy a Multinational Security Support mission to Haiti in close cooperation and coordination with the Government of Haiti for twelve months. 

Thirteen member states of the Council voted in favor of the resolution, with Russia and China abstaining. The United States and Ecuador wrote the solution. According to this resolution, Kenya will lead a multinational mission at the invitation of Haiti and in response to the appeal by the UN Secretary-General. PASSION FUELS DRONE BUILDER IN ZAMBIA

He uses scrap materials to build drones that fly and capture stunning aerial footage of his community. FRANCE TO WITHDRAWING AMBASSADOR AND TROOPS FROM NIGER

CLASHES IN ETHIOPIA’S AMHARA REGION

Fighting has continued in Ethiopia’s Amhara region, specifically in Gondar, between the government and local militias known as the Fano. The clashes have been intense, with the government claiming to have killed over 50 militia members. The Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), in a statement released on a verified Facebook account, confirmed the clashes, adding that government security forces thwarted militia attacks. Reports suggest that fighting has also occurred in other parts of the region, and some militias claim to have gained control of certain areas and captured soldiers. LIBYA FLOODING AFTERMATH

The UN warned Monday that disease outbreaks could bring “a second devastating crisis” to Libya a week after a massive flash flood shattered the coastal city of Derna, sweeping thousands to their deaths. The flash flood has killed nearly 3,300 people and left thousands more missing. Tens of thousands of traumatized residents are homeless and badly in need of clean water, food, and basic supplies.
